We got a call the other day from a customer over in Tonawanda who lost the only key to their 2024 Kia EV6. No spare, no backup, just stuck in a parking garage with no way to start the car. It was actually not to far from our local shop in North Tonawanda.
Now, making a key for a newer Kia like the EV6 isn’t the same as cutting a regular metal key. These cars use smart key fobs that need to be programed to the vehicle’s computer. Our tech brought his Panasonic Toughbook laptop and diagnostic tools, hooked right into the car’s OBD, and got to work. Within about an hour, the customer had a brand new working key fob, cut and programmed on the spot.
